John D Moore

John "Sonny" Dillard Moore of Antlers passed away on Friday October 10, 2014 at the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Hospital in Muskogee at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 15 days. John was born on November 25, 1948 in Tishomingo, OK to the late John Dillard Moore and Effie Sides. He attended school at Bromide until the 8th grade when he moved on to the Wapanucka School District where he attended school for 9th & 10th grades. He then went to Tushka High School where he finished out his education and graduated from there in 1967. Two years later in 1968, John was drafted in the United States Army where he served his country with pride for two years and received a honorable discharge in 1970. John was a well decorated veteran and received many medals while he was in the service. He also loved fish, spend time with his grandkids and all of his family. He loved to go the casino as well as talking on the phone with all of his family & friends. John was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chickasha. John is survived by his wife Louise Moore of the home, 2 sons James Roberts of Antlers, OK & Michael Roberts of Lane, OK, 3 daughters Kathryn Moore of Antlers, OK, Kristy James & husband Everett of Tushka, OK & Rachelle May & husband Nathan of East Prairie, MS, 2 brothers Ernest Moore of Milburn & Bill Moore of Lake Eufaula, 3 sisters Lucy Brady of Wichita Falls, TX, Josie Davison of Chickasha, OK and a his twin sister Birdie Garrison of Ravia, OK. John is also leaves behind 6 wonderful grandchildren, Cayden Moore, Ethan Moore, Brooklynn Moore, Hallee Thompson, Jacob Thompson, & Taylor James, and 3 Great-Grandchildren, Zaylee White, Couper Thompson & Abby Priester. John is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by both his parents, 1 brother Kenneth Moore, & 3 sisters, Betty Gist, Margie Bayles, Kathy Shake. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Tishomingo Funeral Home Chapel with internment to follow in the Condon Grove Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Chickasaw Honor Guard. Pallbearers for the service will be Mark "Tadpole" Gilbert, Ronold Bayles, Jason Garrison, Paul Peoples, Dwain Evan, Everett James, Jacob Thompson, and James Bare Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Moore, Jonathan & Jeremy Garrison. The family will receive friends a the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8pm 705 North Kemp Ave, Tishomingo.
