Andra Armstrong Roberts

Andra Armstrong Roberts, a cherished soul whose life was woven with the rich threads of family, friendship, and a profound love for animals, passed away on December 17, 2024. Born on January 24, 1941, in Ada, Oklahoma, Andra's journey began in the close-knit township of Tishomingo, where the warm embrace of community and the enduring legacy of the family business, Armstrong's and Company, shaped her early years.

A proud graduate of Tishomingo High School, where she captivated many as the drum majorette, Andra danced through her youth with the spirited joy of a life well-lived. Her academic path led her through Murray State College, Oklahoma State University, and the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, each institution marking a chapter of growth and discovery. It was at Murray State College, while working in the administration office, that fate intertwined her life with Warren, a meeting that blossomed into marriage in 1966 and the foundation of a devoted family.

Andra's days were marked by a steadfast dedication to her loved ones, a trait those close to her remember fondly. She bore two daughters, Manon—affectionately known as "Nonnie"—born in 1963, and Laura, born in 1968. Her devotion was evident in the tender moments she shared, from taking her daughters to horse shows that ignited their passion for the equestrian world to giving them the joyous opportunity to ride horses themselves. This equine affinity, a love nurtured since birth, blossomed into a lifelong endeavor of breeding and showing Appaloosas and Quarter Horses, followed later by her notable success with her AKC-winning wiener dog, "Tabby," named for her beloved granddaughter.

Her loving family expanded with the arrival of granddaughters Tabitha Mohler, Brittani Shelton, Torie Lolo-Englert, and Carlee Shelton, as well as great-grandchildren Dayton and Leighton Hensley, each carrying forward her legacy of love and resilience. Andra delighted in the company of many lifelong friends, embracing old bonds and welcoming new ones with an open heart, even as she transitioned to assisted living in her final years.

Known for her sweetness, good heart, and vibrant spirit, Andra loved the daily tapestry of life—whether indulging in the latest gossip, talking on the phone for hours, or sharing stories with friends and family. Though described as very hard-headed, it was this steadfastness that underscored her passionate care for those she loved. Her pride in her daughters, granddaughters, and son-in-laws was palpable, and the warmth of their company was a source of immense comfort and joy.

Following Warren’s passing, Andra relocated to Kansas to be lovingly cared for by Nonnie in her last years, a testament to the deep bonds between mother and daughter. Though she has left this world, the echoes of her laughter, the imprint of her kindness, and the beauty of her spirit remain indelibly etched in the hearts of all who knew her.

Andra Armstrong Roberts is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Robert Armstrong II (Bob), and her mother, Odessa Lester Armstrong. She leaves behind cherished relatives and friends: her daughters Manon Mohler and husband Mark, Laura Shelton and husband Jim; granddaughters Tabitha Mohler, Brittani Shelton, Torie Lolo-Englert and husband Sean, Carlee Shelton; great-grandchildren Dayton and Leighton Hensley; nieces Lindsey Henegar and Melanie Deipenbrock; nephew Drew Armstrong; and brother Andy Bob Armstrong and wife Kristie.

A memorial service celebrating Andra's life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 202 N Neshoba St, Tishomingo, Oklahoma, on June 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Andra Armstrong Roberts will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her—her sweet voice on the phone, her hard-headed charm, and the gentle touch with which she nurtured all those privileged to know her. Her legacy is a rich tapestry of devoted family, loyal friendships, and a spirit touched by a lifelong love of horses and the companionship of her beloved dogs. Through every story shared and every memory cherished, Andra’s light continues to shine brightly.
