April Dawn Thomas, a compassionate nurse and a beacon of unconditional love, passed away on April 10, 2026, at her residence in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on November 2, 1978, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, April's life was a testament to devotion—to her family, to her community, and to the elderly she cared for so deeply.
April’s journey in nursing began after earning her Degree in Nursing from Tulsa Community College. She dedicated her professional life to serving others, working both in hospitals and nursing homes. It was within the nursing homes where April found her true calling—caring gently and attentively for senior citizens, whom she loved dearly. Her work was more than a career; it was a mission of empathy and kindness that touched countless lives.
To know April was to know a woman of rare warmth and humor. She was funny, straightforward, and fiercely loyal—a soul who would accept anyone and give the shirt off her back. Friends and family remember her as someone who never met a person she didn’t love, a woman who could light up a room with laughter or soothe it with her tender heart. One cherished memory recalls April helping Wes with a task while joyfully sharing stories of her children and the immense love she held for them—her pride and her greatest accomplishment.
April was not only devoted to her biological family; her love extended to all the children in her family, embracing each one with the same fierce protectiveness and affection. She was a proud sports parent, present at every event, cheering with boundless enthusiasm, and a passionate supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.
Her surviving family and friends reflect the richness of her life and include her mother, Tammy Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and her father, Robert Thomas, along with his wife Paula, of Claremore, Oklahoma. She is survived by her significant other, De Aundra' Sier, of Oklahoma City; her sister, Dena Thomas, and significant other, Andy Cork, of Sperry, Oklahoma; her brother, Wes Thomas, and wife Autumn, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; her sons, Josh and Tucker Stanford of Oologah, Oklahoma; Hundon Stanford of Kansas City, Kansas; Sire Sier of Oklahoma City; and Bishop Sier of Oklahoma City; as well as her daughter, Abby Stanford, of Oklahoma City. April also leaves behind beloved uncles Mark and Jim Thomas of Sperry, Oklahoma; aunt Debbie Thomas of Sperry; aunt Misty Sprouse of Kingston; aunt Sherry Hall of Broken Arrow; aunt Terry Dupree and husband uncle Jerry of Kingston, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who remain touched by her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Bob Thomas, Billy and Glendena Thomas, and uncles Billy Sprouse and Ron Hall—whose memories she cherished deeply.
April Dawn Thomas’s memorial service will be held on April 18, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hartwell Funeral Home located at 320 W Main St, Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
April’s legacy is one of profound love and generosity. Her heart was immense, her spirit unyielding, and her love for family immeasurable. She was a bright light—a mother, sister, friend, and caregiver who taught those around her the true meaning of compassion. Though she has departed, the echoes of her laughter, the comfort of her care, and the vastness of her love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
