April Dawn Thomas

November 2, 1978 — April 10, 2026

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

April Dawn Thomas, a beloved nurse, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at her residence in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on November 2, 1978, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, April lived a life defined by compassion, loyalty, and an open heart, touching the lives of all who knew her.

April’s career in nursing was a true calling. She pursued her education at Tulsa Community College where she earned her Degree in Nursing, which became the foundation for a lifelong vocation of care. Though April worked in both hospitals and nursing homes, it was the latter she held closest to her heart. She found profound joy and fulfillment in tending to elderly residents, offering kindness, comfort, and companionship in their later years. Her dedication to seniors was a beautiful reflection of the nurturing spirit that guided her every day.

April was known for her warm and genuine personality—a woman with a great sense of humor and a straightforward approach to life. She never hesitated to tell you what she thought, always with integrity and love. Those who knew her remember her as someone who accepted everyone without judgment and possessed a heart so generous she would give the shirt off her back. She loved to joke and playfully "gig" those around her, creating moments of laughter that are treasured memories today. One such memory is of April helping her brother Wes with a little task, during which she enthusiastically shared stories about her children and her boundless love for them.

A devoted mother, April’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She not only cherished her own children but extended her love to all the children in her family. She was a tireless sport parent, attending every game and event with unwavering support and encouragement. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, her passion for sports was a joyful thread woven through her family life.

April is survived by her devoted mother, Tammy Thomas, of Oklahoma City; her father, Robert Thomas, and wife Paula, of Claremore; and her grandparent Betty Thomas of Sperry. She shares a close bond with her significant other, De Aundra' Sier of Oklahoma City. Her siblings include Dena Thomas and her partner Andy Cork of Sperry; Brandie Thomas Davenport and husband Shane of Tulsa/Owasso; Wes Thomas and wife Autumn of Tishomingo; Kevin Kerr and wife Carrie of Tulsa/Owasso; and Cody and wife Chantil of Tulsa/Owasso. Her loving children, who were the center of her world, are Josh and Tucker Stanford of Oologah; Hundon Stanford of Kansas City; Sire Sier, Abby Stanford, and Bishop Sier—all of Oklahoma City.

April’s extended family includes uncles Mark and Jim Thomas of Sperry; aunt Debbie Thomas also of Sperry; aunt Misty Sprouse of Kingston; Sherry Hall of Broken Arrow; uncle Terry Dupree and wife Jerry of Kingston; along with many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Bob Thomas, Billy and Glendena Thomas, and uncles Billy Sprouse and Ron Hall—who watch over her from above.

The family will honor April’s life with a memorial service on April 18, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Hartwell Funeral Home located at 320 W Main St, Tishomingo, Oklahoma. This gathering will be a time to celebrate her extraordinary spirit, her unfailing love for family, and the selflessness with which she lived. April’s legacy will forever endure in the hearts of those she embraced with her generous soul.

April Dawn Thomas’s life was a shining testament to love, laughter, and limitless compassion. Those who knew her will dearly miss her presence but will carry forward her legacy of kindness and devotion—a beacon of light that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
