Charles Wayne Thomas, 75, passed peacefully in his sleep at his home early Tuesday morning in Prague Oklahoma, September 8, 2026. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 14, 2026 at Ravia Baptist Church. Bro Roger Hartwell will be officiate .Interment to follow at Ravia Cemetery, Ravia, OKla.
Charles was born on October 4, 1950, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, to Sherman and Ruby Thomas. He attended Tishomingo High School, and shortly after turning 18, on January 28, 1969, he married his first wife, Carolyn Kay Garrison, with whom they share six children.
At 18, Charles also began what would become a 34-year career with the BNSF Railroad in Frisco Texas. Charles was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and doing things the right way. On April 14th 2012, Charles married his beloved second wife, Betty Lou Thomas and they were happily married for 11 years.
Charles was a man who knew how to find happiness in the simple things. He didn't need much to make him happy—his family, the outdoors, his garden, a fishing pole, a good hunting spot, and, of course, anything John Deere. His family was one of the greatest sources of pride and love in his life. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church in Ravia Oklahoma and his faith was an important part of his life.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved second wife, Betty Lou Thomas; his parents, Sherman and Ruby Thomas; his brothers, Kenneth, Gene Allen, and Richard Thomas; his sister, Leatha O'Brien; his stepson, Jack Elbert; and his granddaughter, Machaela Rose Wilson.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia Nuner of Bethel, Oklahoma; his six children and their spouses: Christi and Andy Wilson of Sherman Texas; Shannon and David Scott of Springfield Missouri; Damian and Shelena Thomas of Latta Oklahoma; Miranda and Mel Deitelhoff of Reedsburg Wisconsin; Steffan and Tish Thomas of Davis Oklahoma; and Joshua and Rachel Thomas of Prague Oklahoma. His stepchildren, Elain Graham of Tishoming, Marvin and Sherry Yochum of Tishomingo; Jimmy and Jackie Yochum of Tishomingo; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece and nephews and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hartwell Funeral Home for their assistance during this difficult time.
