Darlene Davis

Darlene Briscoe Davis, born February 1, 1952, in Wapanucka, Oklahoma, to Dee and Myrtle Briscoe, was a lifelong resident of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She passed away on August 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Darlene was a strong, resilient woman who came from a large family and knew the value of hard work. She worked for 35 years as a tire builder at Michelin Tire in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Her work ethic was a reflection of who she was: dependable, determined, and never afraid to work with her hands. She helped provide for her family and raised her children with the same strength and determination that carried her throughout her life.

Darlene married Herb Davis in Tishomingo on April 2, 1982. Their marriage was a true partnership and was built on a deep and lasting love. They worked together at Michelin and then came home and continued working side by side around their home. They were almost always together. Their children remember their parents as a couple who shared a deep love and devotion to one another, rarely arguing and always facing life together. Herb was not only her husband, but her companion, partner, and the person who shared so much of her life. The life they built together was one of hard work, family, and love.

Darlene was a loving mother to Joshua Stewart, Diane Davis, and Melissa Gulledge of Johnston County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Davis; her daughter, Lisa Rachel Davis; her parents, Dee and Myrtle (Henson) Briscoe; her sisters, Janie Cathy and Joyce Caraway; and her brothers, Henry Briscoe, Danny Briscoe, Frank Briscoe, Robert Briscoe, and Ben Briscoe, who passed away at birth.

She is survived by her brothers, Tommy Briscoe of Milburn and Jessie Briscoe of Ardmore.

Darlene’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Hansen of Ada, Oklahoma; Emily Stewart of Jersey City, New Jersey; Michaela Grant of Coleman, Oklahoma; Risa Grant of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Logan Branch of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Landon Branch of Milburn, Oklahoma; and Paige Stewart of Durant, Oklahoma.

She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Kyson, Ryland, Luka, Iris, Noa, Monroe, Boone, Davis, Timber, and Bentley.

Those who knew Darlene will remember her not only for her striking beauty, but also for the beauty she carried within her. She was a woman who loved deeply and showed that love through action. She took care of people. She worked hard. She provided for her family. She kept her home, tended her garden, and was always busy doing something for the people and things she loved.

Darlene loved being outdoors and had a true green thumb. She found joy in working in her flower garden and watching things grow. She loved sunflowers, cherished her Volkswagen Beetle, and enjoyed working around her home.

Her family knew that when Darlene loved you, she loved you wholeheartedly. She may not have always needed many words to express it, but she showed her love through the work of her hands, the home she cared for, the food she provided, the gardens she tended, and the countless things she did for the people around her.

Darlene leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, hard work, beauty, and above all, love. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, friends, extended family, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to gather for dinner at Homestead Venue LLC. The meal will be provided by members of Bullard Chapel Baptist Church, whose kindness and generosity will help bring family and friends together to celebrate Darlene’s life.
