On Friday morning September 16, 2016 Dorothy Marie Johnson was surrounded by her family when she stepped into eternity with her Lord & Savior at the Blue River Health Care Center in Tishomingo at the age of 83 years, 2 months & 15 days. Dorothy was born on July 01, 1933 in Rochester, TX to the late Alton Dewit Burton & Leola Mae (Vernon) Burton. Dorothy later moved to Wapanucka & married Floyd Johnson where she lived the remainder of her life. Her husband preceded her in death in 1977. Dorothy worked as Nurses Aide for the most of her working life. She worked at the former Lawnview Nursing Home as well as the Hillcrest Nursing Home which is now known as the Blue River Health Care Center here in Tishomingo. Her family says she was a great cook, a wonderful gardener, and always kept her yard very pretty. Dorothy enjoyed being around her family and loved her kids & grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by: 2 sons: Fred Johnson Bobby Johnson 3 Daughters: Dorothy Mae Taylor Pat Broyles Diane Johnson Dorothy also leaves behind 11 grandchildren & 22 great-grandchildren as well as a many other family members & friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by: Her parents Alton & Leola Mae (Vernon) Burton Husband: Floyd Johnson 3 Brothers: Edward Burton R.W. Burton Marvin Burton Sister: Velma Burton Son-in-Law: Roy Rose Graveside services will be held on Monday September 19 at 1 pm in the Wells Valley Cemetery in Wapanucka with the Reverend Tim Carter officiating. Serving as casket escorts will be, Mrs. Johnson's grandsons. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Children's Fund at the First Baptist Church in Wapanucka where Dorothy was a member.
