James Albert Humphrey, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 4, 2025, in Madill, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. Born on May 2, 1943, in Houston, Texas, James dedicated his life to nurturing not only his family but also his passions, which included music, military service, and the delight of caring for his beloved pets.

James was a proud veteran who served in both the Marines and the Army National Guard. His dedication to his military service was emblematic of his character—devoted and disciplined. Throughout his life, he carried a deep pride in serving his country, and he found joy in recounting tales from his service days, which inspired many who had the privilege to listen.

Professionally, James worked diligently as a mechanic and driver, honing his skills and an innate curiosity to work with old cars. He approached each task with a meticulous mindset, treating every vehicle as a new adventure. Beyond his career, he found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and spending time with family and friends, engaging in memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of his loved ones.

James created lasting memories centered around music; he would enchant family gatherings with lively tunes and lights, while they diligently cleaned little toy soldiers, igniting a wave of laughter and love. His playful spirit was ever-present, making moments with him cherished beyond words.

His family was his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his daughters, Teena Lewis, of Del City, Oklahoma, Wilhelmenia Humphrey, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; son, Jeffrey Humphrey, five step children and his wife, Wilhelmine, of Madill, Oklahoma; sister, Carolyn Humphrey; and brother, Hilbert Humphrey, of Madill, Oklahoma. James was adored by thirteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews who will miss his boundless affection. James is now reunited with his deceased family members, including his parents Benny Lee Humphrey, his mom Agnes White and his wife Iris Humphrey.

James found joy in every facet of his life, including caring for his fur baby, Peewee, who was a source of companionship and comfort for him. He was surrounded by love and laughter, and his presence always brought warmth to those fortunate enough to cross his path.
