Jess Daniel “Jd” Vaughn

Jess Daniel “JD” Vaughn, known by those who cherished him as JD, passed away much too soon on August 1, 2026, in Dickson, Oklahoma. Born on November 16, 1978, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, JD was a beacon of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to all who knew him.

JD’s roots ran deep in southern Oklahoma, where he grew up and graduated from Wilson High School. He carried the lessons and friendships from those formative years with him throughout his life, shaping the compassionate and loyal man he would become. JD worked in the oilfield his entire life to care for his family. He spent many hours coaching Pee Wee football for the kiddos at Dickson. Hunting and fishing was a love that JD and Jana shared together, but the love for the Texas Longhorns was not shared! JD was huge fan of the Texas longhorn softball and football teams. He was known as pappy to his grandkids. Everyone knew him by his deep raspy voice.

JD’s world was his family—a tapestry woven with untold laughter, support, and shared memories. Left to treasure his legacy are his beloved wife, Jana Vaughn, whose partnership with JD was marked by tenderness and shared dreams. Together they cared for a beautiful family that will forever carry forward JD’s spirit.

JD was the proud father to Cheyenne Little and husband Damien, Alexis Vaughn, Jayden Vaughn and boyfriend Hayden Herren, Jesse Vaughn, Rodolfo Vaughn, River Edwards and girlfriend Allena Christensen, Ember Vaughn, Ceder Vaughn and Daisy Vaughn. As a doting grandfather, JD’s eyes would light up whenever Skylynn Smith and Layla Smith entered the room, and those precious moments spent together will be ones his family cherishes always.

Family remained the cornerstone of JD’s life. He is survived by his cherished mother, Carolyn Allen, who fostered in him the resilience and warmth for which he was so well loved. JD’s siblings—Rhonda Ray, John Vaughn, James Vaughn, and Mellissa Vaughn—along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, continue to uphold the close bonds JD so valued.

Though his journey was met with moments of heartbreak, JD found strength in honoring those who preceded him in death, including his sister Regina Vaughn and his father Dan Vaughn. Their memory lived on in him as he leaned on family for comfort and healing in times of sorrow.

Life’s milestones were precious achievements in JD’s eyes, none more important than being present for his family’s triumphs and trials, celebrations, and quiet moments of togetherness. His generosity of spirit, steadfast loyalty, and sense of humor infused even the simplest day with meaning.

JD’s presence will be profoundly missed by those who had the privilege to know him. His family, now held in gentle comfort by the memories they created together, invite friends and community to honor JD’s remarkable life.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hartwell Funeral Home, 320 W Main St, Tishomingo, OK. A funeral service celebrating JD’s life will take place on , Thursday August 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mannsville First Baptist Church, 213 Grand Rd, Mannsville, OK. Kirk Blancett officiating. Burial at Nelda Cemetery to follow. The family ask that everyone please wear their favorite team shirt to honor JD or your Texas Longhorn shirt!
