Johnny Lee Taylor, 72, passed away on November 18, 2024, in Durant, Oklahoma. Born on August 16, 1952, in Talihina, Oklahoma, Johnny spent his formative years in Sherman, Texas, where he graduated from Sherman High School.

Johnny dedicated many years of service to Sundowner Trailers, marking a significant chapter in his professional life. He was a man of faith, actively involved at Abundant Life Cathedral in Tishomingo, where he found a community of fellowship and support.

A sports enthusiast, Johnny loved softball, fishing, and playing horseshoes. His passion for the outdoors was matched by his love for football, particularly as a fervent supporter of the Oklahoma University teams. Yard work was more than a chore for Johnny; it was a pastime through which he took great pride in his surroundings.

Johnny was a devoted husband to his late wife, Mildred Taylor, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. His life was also enriched by his family, including his surviving brothers, Jerry Taylor and wife Margaret of Santa Fe, NM, Randy Taylor and wife Marilyn of Durant, OK, and Darrell Taylor and wife Sherry of Zuni, NM; sisters, Nancy Wallace and husband Lonzo of Sherman, TX, and Barbara Morgan of Red Oak, TX; grandchildren, Delilah Cheeter, Gavin Taylor, and Cadence Taylor; great-grandchild, Wrenley Cheeter; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mildred, his son Lance Taylor, and brothers Amos Jr., Harold, and Geno Taylor, along with nieces Robin Wallace and Terri Taylor.

A service to honor Johnnys life will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Hartwell Funeral Home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Hartwell Funeral Home is assisting the Taylor family during this time, ensuring that Johnny's legacy is honored and remembered. Johnny's life was a testament to his strong character, unwavering faith, and the deep bonds of family. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
