Michael Lee Hailes

Michael Lee Hailes passed peacefully at his home in Madill, Oklahoma, on September 1, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on February 20, 1957, in Hobbs, New Mexico, and will be remembered as a very giving, loving, and caring man whose warmth touched the lives of many.

Michael served in the Marine Corps, and he carried that same seriousness and dedication into his work as an EMT, a calling he pursued throughout his lifetime. He was known for being calm with his patients and for working well with others, bringing steady care and compassion to people in moments when they needed it most. He enjoyed his time both as a Marine and as an EMT, and those who knew him understood how deeply he valued the work of helping others.

Away from work, Michael was fun-loving and had a gift for making people laugh. He talked with folks everywhere he went and was known for his generous spirit, always giving gifts and sharing small acts of kindness. His grandchildren especially treasured the little gifts he gave them. He loved spending time doing crafts with the grandchildren and entertaining them, and he especially enjoyed games, with dominoes and Yahtzee among his favorites.

Of all the blessings in his life, Michael was proudest of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dana Hailes of the home. He also leaves behind his son Micheal Edward Hailes and wife Brittnie of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; his daughter Miranda Lovett and husband William of Moore, Oklahoma; and his son Matthew Hailes of Durant, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his mother, Dortha Hailes of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; his brother Johnny Hailes and wife Ruth Ann of Quial, Texas; and his sister, Alene Hampton of Pine Hurst, Texas. His memory will live on in the hearts of his granddaughters, Everly Lovett, Ember Lovett, and Scarlett Hailes, who were a special joy in his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hailes, brother, Ronald Hailes and by his nephew Derek Perrin.

Visitation will be held on September 8, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Bullard Chapel Baptist Church, 6001 S. Bullard Chapel Road, Tishomingo, Oklahoma 73460. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Bullard Chapel Baptist Church.

Michael Lee Hailes will be remembered for his calm heart, his generous nature, his devotion to his family, and the laughter he brought to others. His life was one of service, kindness, and love, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
