Opal Rita Briscoe, beloved by all who knew her, passed peacefully at her home in Milburn, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loved ones, on July 9, 2026. Born Opal Rita Rolen on January 13, 1951, in Sentinal, Oklahoma, she entered the world with a gentle spirit and a kind heart that would go on to touch many lives over the 75 years she was given.
Opal’s days began under the wide skies of Oklahoma and she carried that openness and warmth with her through every chapter of her life. Her compassion and steadfastness were hallmarks of her character—qualities that those closest to her drew strength from time and again. She married her devoted husband, of 57 years, Tomie Briscoe, building a life rooted in unwavering love, mutual respect and enduring partnership.
Together, Opal and Tomie raised their beloved family, each child gifted with the steady presence and encouragement of a mother who knew the importance of faith, resilience, and laughter. Casey and Veronica Briscoe were the lights of her life; to each she gave not just her boundless affection but also her wisdom, nurturing dreams and comforting challenges with equal grace.
Though her immediate circle was her greatest treasure, Opal’s generosity reached far beyond her closest kin. She was a steadfast friend and confidante, always ready with an open ear and an understanding word. She also cherished the memory of those who touched her life but have gone before, including her parents, Robert Rolen Sr. And Bertha Rolen, 4 sisters, Corean Cravett, Ruby Jordon, Helen Arles and Mary Murphy, 2 brothers Robert Rolen Jr. and Frenchy Rolen and a grandson Christian Briscoe. Their memories remained dear to her heart, living on in her stories and recollections.
Opal’s gentle elegance was matched only by her quiet strength. In the face of life’s joys and sorrows, she exemplified patience, acceptance, and humility, teaching those around her the true meaning of grace. Her home was a place of warmth and kindness, where laughter rang loudest during family gatherings, and where visitors were always welcomed as friends. In every aspect of her life, she embodied a rare blend of dignity and kindness that left a lasting impression.
Opal Rita Briscoe’s legacy is carried on by her loving husband Tomie, her children Casey, and Veronica, her Grandchildren, Taylor, Scott, Terry, Thomas and Beth Ann, her great grandchildren August and Utah, all whose lives she touched. The lessons she imparted—love without reservation, kindness without expectation, and courage quiet but steadfast—will continue to guide and inspire.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Opal’s life and honor her memory at visitation on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hartwell Funeral Home, 320 W Main St, Tishomingo, OK. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wells Valley Cemetery, Wells Valley Ln, Bromide, OK.
Those who knew Opal will remember her for a lifetime—a heart as vast as the Oklahoma plains and a spirit as gentle as the breeze. Her legacy of love continues in each of us who were privileged to know her.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hartwell Funeral Home for their assistance during this difficult time.
