Barbara Sue (Black) Sharp of Tishomingo departed this life, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at her home in Tishomingo at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 1 day. Graveside services to honor and celebrate her life are scheduled for 11 am, Monday April 11, 2022 at the Tishomingo City Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Hartwell Funeral Home.
Barbara was born October 5, 1940 to the late Mr. Henry Black and Mrs. Viola (Davis) Black in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was raised in the Johnston county area and lived there her entire life. Barbara married Roy Lee Sharp on March 17, 1956 in Madill, Oklahoma. When Barbara was able, she worked for Sherman Thomas helping with his vegetable garden. She planted, cared for, and harvested the vegetable crops each year. Barbara was a hard worker She was tough as nails. She survived two back to back brain surgeries!
Barbara loved spending time with her family and loved them dearly. She loved gardening and being outside. Barbara had a special love for her great-great grandchildren as well. Barbara's family loved her so much and she will be dearly missed by them.
She is preceded in death by, both parents; husband, Roy Sharp; son, Jerry Sharp; brother, Sammy Black; Sisters, Clara McClain, Charlene Matthews, and Darlene Tyler.
Barbara leaves to forever cherish her memory, son, Terry Hughes of Tishomingo; daughters, Gayla Sharp of Tishomingo, Virgie Pitman of Mill Creek; Grandchildren, Christie French, along with six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
