Carol “Joann” Horton

August 1, 1942 — March 12, 2023

Carol Horton Current Services Carol Joan (McGehee) Horton passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at her home in Ravia surrounded by her loved ones. She was born August 1, 1942 in Oakland, Ok to E.A. 'Hooks' McGehee and Wilma (Gilreath) McGehee. Carol was known to most people as Joann. She lived in a few different states before making her home in Johnston County. In December of 1982, Joann married Walter Eugene Horton. Joann worked as a waitress at Western Inn and became acquainted with many people while there. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, yard work, and baking. One of her most favorite things was watching crime dramas on television. The only thing better than watching the crime dramas would have been meeting Mark Harmon from NCIS in person. She always made the best Italian Cream Cake for Christmas. Members of her family always made sure to be there because that was the only time of the year she made it. That may have been the main reason they came. Joann was an amazing lady and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Wendyl McGehee; daughters, Patricia Annette Biggs, Barbara Carol Burris; and son, William Calvin Burris II. Those Joann leaves to forever cherish her memories are daughter, Kristy Horton and wife, Lorene of Ravia; grandchildren, Joseph, Jason, Rebecca, and Trevor; along with numerous great-grandchildren, friends, and family in Texas. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Ravia Cemetery. Services Memorial Graveside Service Monday March 20, 2023 2:00 PM Ravia Cemetery Ravia, Oklahoma
