Charles Tweedy Current Services

Charles Edward Tweedy of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas at the age of 73 years and 8 months.  Charles was born in Ravia, Ok on March 12, 1949 to Curtis Elwood Tweedy and Nettie Margaret (Barrett) Tweedy. 

Charles was raised in Marlow, Ok and graduated from Marlow High School.  He worked for Haskell Lemon Construction Company doing highway construction.  Charles moved to Tishomingo around 1974 where he worked at Johnston County District 3.  While there, he worked under three different county commissioners. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was known as "Grader Man" to the residents in the district.  Charlie retired from Johnston County in 2012 after a total of 38 years of employment.  

Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, and spending time working on small engines.  As a special project, he enjoyed helping his grandson work on his 1982 Chevy pickup truck.  He loved telling stories to everyone and spending time with his family.  

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ila Davis.

He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, son, Charles Tweedy of Gales Ferry, Connecticut; daughter, Melissa Tweedy of Madill, OK;  brother, Curtis Wayne Tweedy of Connerville, OK; sisters, Elizabeth Segura of Tishomingo, OK, Glenna West of Tishomingo, OK, and Katherine Spillers of Ardmore, OK; four grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services to honor and celebrate the life of Charles will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Ravia Cemetery.  The family will received guests Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services are under the care and direction of Hartwell Funeral Home.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Madill Wrestling Team for Katilynn Tweedy.  There will also be a pot luck lunch after the service at the Madill Community Center at the fair barn in Madill.
