Jackie Hamilton Current Services

Jackie "Roundman" Hamilton III passed from this life on October 20, 2023 at his home in Tishomingo surrounded by his family.  He was born August 24th, 1947 to Jack Hamilton Jr. and Betty Jo (Baber) Hamilton in Chickasha, Oklahoma.  He attended school in El Dorado, Oklahoma and later moved to Johnston County where he attended high school in Milburn before going to the Army to serve his country in Vietnam.

He married Laura (Norris) Hamilton on August 24, 1967 at the First Baptist Church of Milburn.  They married on his birthday so it would be a date he could always remember.  Jackie's friends and family knew him as "Roundman."  A nickname that stuck with him through the years.  He definitely had the "gift of gab."  He not only enjoyed talking but he enjoyed conversations.  Jackie had been known to talk on the phone to people who had actually dialed the wrong number.  He didn't meet strangers and had many friends.  He was an excellent jokester and prankster and always willing to help someone in need.

Roundman worked as a truck driver driving coast to coast most of his life.  He worked at the Johnston County Sheriff's Office and Tishomingo Police Department some during the 70s and 80s when he got tired of driving the truck.  He seemed to always go back to driving after a break.  Jackie was also a diesel mechanic so he not only drove a truck but he was the one who had to work on it as well.

At one time, Jackie was the chaplain at the American Legion, a member of the Masonic Lodge #91 in Tishomingo, and also a member of the VFW.

He loved music, yodeling, and playing the guitar.  It didn't matter where he was when he decided to yodel a tune; If the mood struck him, he would be yodeling in the middle of a restaurant!

Roundman was a great husband, dad, and friend that will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by both parents; an infant daughter, Cynthia; brothers, Billy Joe Hamilton, Ronnie Hamilton, and Dickie Dale Hamilton; a sister, Brenda Harris.

Jackie leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, his wife, Laura of the home; daughters Liz McDonald of Norman and Trina Castonguay of Tishomingo; grandchildren, Ashley McDonald and Gerard of Oklahoma City, Haley Cook of Mill Creek; a great-granddaughter, Navi Easiley; brother Mick Hamilton and wife Myrna of Kingston.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Jackie will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10 am in the Minnie Hartwell Memorial Chapel at Hartwell Funeral Home with Reverend John Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn.  Visitation will be Monday, October 23rd from 5 pm to 7 pm.
