Nial Gerard Maytubby of Kingston passed from this life on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Tx at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 18 days. Nial was born on January 22, 1952 in Larned, KS to the late Lymon Samuel "Chief" Maytubby and DeSales Marie "Sally" (Dressen) Maytubby.
He worked as a Consulting Engineer for several years and later opened his own oil construction and consulting companies. Being in the oil industry gave Nial the opportunity to work all over the world. Whatever Nial did in his professional and personal life, he did well. Nial spent 31 years as a fishing guide on Lake Texoma, a job that he loved. You could say that Nial was a self-made man.
Nial married Connie Payne Blehm. This was a union that lasted until his death. The couple enjoyed each other and traveling together. Their travels took them to the Caribbean, Mexico, Granada, Isle of de Margarita, and many many other places within the US, just to name a few.
Nial was also an excellent hunter. He preferred bow hunting and said that it was better than hunting with a gun because it was more of a challenge. Nial was a people person and had many friends he'd made over the years.
He moved to the Lake Texoma area in 1990 and began his career as a fishing guide. He made a lot of people happy during those 31 years. Because of his gift for fishing and his ability to make his clients feel like friends before they were, he always left a lasting impression. To Nial, his boat was his office. He enjoyed time with all his friends, but especially his best friends Rudy & Roy.
There's so much to say about Nial. He was a business owner for many years, an excellent golfer and even tried out for the PGA. He loved gardening and anything outdoors including fishing, golfing, hunting and his daily walks. Nial had a way with animals and dearly loved his pets Sissy, Maxine, and BobbaLou. Anything Nial put his hands on, he did well and with excellence. He had an easy and infectious laugh that no one ever forgot.
Nial was preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Pam Johnston.
He leaves behind his best friend, the love of his life, his forever soulmate Connie of the home; son Kelly Maytubby and wife, Melissa of Spring, TX; daughters, Lisa Lewis of Fort Worth, TX and Erin Maytubby of Oklahoma City; brother, Lonnie Maytubby and wife, Jane of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Kelsi, Amaya, Isaiah, and Draylon; great-grandchildren Peighton and Micah. Nial also leaves behind Connie's children Victor Blehm and partner Deanna and Trent Blehm and wife Alicia; grandchildren Cody, Abby, Presli, Trysten, and Breck; great grandchild Carson, all of whom he loved as his own. He will forever be remembered and very deeply missed by his family and his extremely large circle of friends.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Nial Maytubby will be Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 10 o'clock a.m. at Victory Life Church in Durant, OK with Pastor Lee Armstrong, Pastor Zach Backues, and Pastor Harvey Smith officiating.
