William "Leon" Standifer Current Services

Memorial services for Milburn Resident, Leon Standifer will be held at a later date. Leon was born August 19, 1937 in Boggy Depot, Oklahoma to the late William Harding Standifer and Edna May (Cisco) Standifer. He passed from this life December 26, 2021 at Blue River Healthcare in Tishomingo at the age of 84 years. When Leon was as young child he and his family moved to California where he spent the majority of his childhood. When Leon became a teenager he moved back to Johnston County where he graduated from Milburn High School. Upon graduating high school, Leon joined the United States Army where he bravely served his country until his honorable discharge. After being discharged from the Army, Leon went to work as a carpenter for Carl Heath and later worked for Ish Upton and his son Jim Upton until his retirement. In his spare time, Leon enjoyed restoring old cars, building things such as houses. He built two homes for members of his family as well a home for himself. Leon also enjoyed going camping whenever he had the chance. 

Leon leaves behind to cherish his memory, Sons, Kevin Standifer and Daryl Brooks; Daughter, Denise Hook; Granddaughter, Danya Hook Leon also leaves behind several nieces, nephews as well as numerous other family members and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, William Charles Standifer; brothers, William Ozell Standifer, Frank Standifer, Lawrence Standifer; Sisters, Florence Lee Dennis, Hazel Elkins, Opal Flagg; Niece, Carolyn Frutrell.
